   I'm seeing how I can make this computer last for *another* two years on top of a 6 year lifecycle that was supposed to be 4.

   Facebook wants backpats for getting 5 years out of the most expensive enterprise hardware imaginable.

     @r000t I've built my AMD FX shitbox in late 2016 and at this point upgraded it to the max. Anything further would pretty much require purchase and assembly of the whole new PC.

     @mint @r000t I see very little difference between my i7 6800K and Ryzen7 3800X. It was supposed to be a stop gap until I could afford a 5950X but that never happened but realistically, I only really wanted/needed it for video encoding and maybe running VMs with dedicated cores, which I do very little of these days.
     
     What really gimps me is my fucking GTX1070, its starting to really show its age and replacement options are....unappealing. Hopefully Intel keeps improving like they have been doing and forces some real GPU competition in pricing soon.

     @BlinkRape @r000t I assume GPU prices are kept on the same high because Nvidia still hopes to cash in if mining grows once again. Which is kinda understandable since than and AI are one of the few things those overpowered cards are good for. Modern AAA games are unappealing at best.
