   Rare bubonic plague case in Oregon spread from very sick pet cat

   The person's cat was reportedly extremely ill and had a draining abscess.

     @arstechnica I thought the cases reported in North America have been on the East Coast.

     West coast ports get much more traffic these days however.

     @arstechnica i think the cat pictured is unrelated to the story, but whoever chose that cat pic did a good job of communicating the right emotion from the cat's perspective
