Things to really like about Alpine Linux
- Text mode installer only. You decide on a GUI later, if you even want one.
- The repositories contain libre and OSS software exclusively, with exception for device firmwares.
- 6 month release cycle (for ex. as opposed to Debian’s 1.5~2 year cycle)
- Stable releases and rolling “edge” release (as opposed to Debian’s Experimental+Unstable+Testing preceding Stable, then a long chain of OldStable, OldOldStable…).
- Incredibly quick to boot, install software and administrate. APK combines the download and installation steps.
It will probably be joining the other tools in my toolbox. @alpinelinux
