     @sickburnbro Democracy in a modern society where most people stare at screens all day is literally just rule by whoever controls the screens. Whatever goes on there becomes reality for the masses. "Consent of the masses" means nothing.

     @sickburnbro One troubling consequence of this reality is that national borders don't actually mean anything if your news still comes out of NYC and your entertainment comes out of California. You can try slowing it down, but eventually the programming and attendant rot will seep in.

     @sickburnbro Hawaiians really don't want to be part of the US. Hawaii is a hilarious state. It's ran by left wing chuds, happas of mix German, Japanese, Chinese, Filipino ancestry who look at a picture of king Kamehameha and say "my ancestor". They'll let a city burn down to appease the water god they don't even believe in. So they want to be their own country again, they want all aspects of the US rule eliminated, but they still want the free stuff. They want the US to continue to send them money, but no tourists, no infrastructure, no business, no observatories, no military bases. It's goofy.
