@Tadano @kirby @sysrq @funny distcc is for ADHD zoomers that can't wait a few more minutes for compilation (or, you know, just leave it running for the night). I ran Gentoo on my rockpro64 and had no issues compiling everything locally.

@mint @kirby @sysrq @funny Didn't know it was for ADHD zoomers, I thought it was used mostly by sysadmins and Gentoo oldheads in tandem with ccache. Given that and the fact I'm administering this headless system remotely, usually from my desktop, I figure I may as well leverage the extra power. Even when I'm out I often leave the desktop seeding some torrents. The future Gentoo machine in question is a fanless N100 system so I wasn't sure how compilation would be but if you had a tolerable experience on an ARM SBC that gives me some hope. Would you kindly elaborate on how running Gentoo on the Rockpro was? :naruhonote:

@Tadano @kirby @sysrq @funny It was a basic arm64 stage3 instance, but with a twist. I was too lazy to configure the kernel so I made an Armbian chroot and did a bunch of bind mounts so that I could use and update its kernel separately (this also allowed me to do encrypted LUKS unlock over the network).

Teach me your ways :mokoi:
t. Has to go to machine in person to decrypt system every time a power outage happens
