寮 (ryo@social.076.moe)'s status on Sunday, 05-Feb-2023 14:00:59 JST 寮 People talk about that "Chinese spy balloon" thing so much, I just took a look just to see what they're all talking about, because at first I thought it was just some internet meme.
Based on my 30 second long research, I see it's yet another distraction psyop, not worth anybody's time at all.
If it were real:
1. How would they be able to accurately steer it to the opposite side of a massive ocean?
2. If it got across the ocean, how does it still float?
3. What's even the point of spying on random places and random people they (legally speaking) have no juristiction over?
4. Why would they worry about what Americans are doing if they are already occupied enough with what Chinese people are doing, which they can actually control (again, legally speaking)?- Udon, Loliphile, histoire and [Moved] Neopolitan like this.

How the fuck is the CCP spying on Americans anything worse from CIA/NSA/FBI spying on Americans!?
All the CCP can do is take a big bucket of popcorn and enjoy the show, whereas the CIA/NSA/FBI can actually get at your doorstep, and herASS you, kidnap you, or something else.
So it's really not worth worrying at all. -

I have found that this is one of the strongest predictors of a media psyop campaign. When all of a sudden, everyone around you in public is parroting some current event story or tagline. Especially considering most people would never actively seek out information on such subject matter on their own.
I would like to propose an additional point:
- Why would the Chinese need to resort to aerospace when they can just check their servers that have been collecting data from all the zoombies phones?

Terminal Autism (terminalautism@social.076.moe)'s status on Monday, 06-Feb-2023 12:50:24 JST Terminal Autism I heard of that but didn't look into it at all because I have more important things to do, like playing Minetest, and researching ThinkPads.
By the way, check out the list of laptops Libreboot supports:
https://libreboot.org/docs/hardware/#laptops-intel-x86
More models are supported now. I know you hoard them a bit, so time to buy before people find out! And the W541 is mentioned in the latest release too ( https://libreboot.org/news/libreboot20221214.html ), even though it's not there. So, apparently now you can Libreboot ThinkPads with i7s, and the T440p supports 16 GB of RAM, and the W541 supports 32 GB. Also, the X220 and X230 are now supported.
Not a whole lot of information out yet, though. Seems like nobody knows. Sshhh, it's a secret.新明揺聖 likes this.
