why do you think the EFF is smart and only saying "We hate this site but we also hate internet censorship with these methods too because it could be used against people who hate being oppressed".
-
Oh for sure.
It's easy to forget when the KF shit was going down that there was genuine fear in this side of the web that we'd be getting the kind of attacks that hit KF. The only reason KF withstood them is because the idealists (usually older techies who would host boomer Nazi and conspiracy sites back in the day and similar fringe shit) tend to come out of the woodwork and host these sites. Or as one guy I know said who hosted such sites, he did it because he disagreed with them and wanted to show the world what these people truly thought in their own words.
My stance on Josh is that he's wasting it all on a gay internet gossip forum instead of something worthwhile like literally anything else. If the troons left it the fuck alone it would have died sooner.
-
@PhenomX6 @CentaurBreeder @cyberanathema @animeirl @ehhh @luithe i admire people that try really hard to stick to their ideals
-
Do you think kiwi farms should be censored?
-
I think people should look at it as an example of "this is how not to behave online" or "this is how not to run a website". The lessons to be learnt from KF are very important IMO, namely #1 is to keep a low profile.
Josh in particular dug himself there when he spent years trying to boost KF to the #1 in search for any topic and this took KF from a gossip forum into being what it is now. Tumblr showed that you cannot shut down a website and expect the community to vanish overnight, just like how when the USSR fell the people did not. If KF didn't host dox and was lower profile online and didn't encourage users to infight, the community and site would be healthier. Why do you think a lot of controversial forums hide themselves? They do it to survive.
-
@PhenomX6 @CentaurBreeder @MischievousTomato @cyberanathema @ehhh @luithe EFF is good and also correct but null doesn't give a shit about anything but himself so I think it's inaccurate to say he's standing up for free speech. he's standing up for himself and doesn't give a shit about anyone else's free speech, unlike the EFF
-
Not even a gossip site, but one that picks fights with anyone and everyone online over petty grudges.
That's KF's #1 problem, the in your face community has neutered any chance it had of being any sort of cultural powerhouse or influence other than using a few words that were likely used by somethingsensitive posters as well.
-
@PhenomX6 @CentaurBreeder @cyberanathema @animeirl @ehhh @luithe KF just clings to whatever weird it finds and turns them worse. He's just burning out people but eh, when shit that the mainstream doesn't like that isn't something as universally hateable as a gossip site arises, it'll be properly supported.
-
@PhenomX6 @CentaurBreeder @cyberanathema @animeirl @ehhh @luithe that kind of behavior is essentially the behavior of a good chunk of people only. say something the hivemind doesnt like and you get ostracized, pettily. I observe this on places for ultra rightoids like kf and also for ultra leftoids
-
@PhenomX6 @CentaurBreeder @animeirl @cyberanathema @ehhh @luithe i try not to be like that as well but im only hooman.
but seeing how KF users turned on poast and started doxing poast users and even admins was hilarious and hell, the mischievous man in me thinks it was even deserved
-
I’m not sure how all this works tbh, but I think it’s obvious from fedi that you have to expect the biggest retards if you are actually free speech. That’s what free speech is.
-
it's important for people to take lessons away from things like this and learn how to actually combat censorship
-
I think it’s literally allow full retard or be a cuck. Show me an example with “reasonable” free speech.
-
KF didn't even allow full retard half the time, the jannies and newer users keep yelling when the retards talked about by the site sign up these days because no fun is allowed.
-
@PhenomX6 @MischievousTomato @cyberanathema @bot @animeirl @luithe >the community and site would be healthier
that wouldn't matter. KF is like cosmo but for internet autists. you're only going to attract shitty/unwell people who don't have better things to do with their lives.
-
I'm well aware, there was just a time period when less autistic people and people who "swore" they only were there for a&h were signing up to discuss shit because of censorship.
The fedi exists now so KF has no point.
-
yeah you should allow people to be full retard but if you consider yourself to be a free speech defender or activist you have to be at least a little strategic otherwise you're just giving the enemy ammunition
-
Run a blog but also you have to be aware of who you're calling this and that or you get fucked over legally at worst and laughed at at best.
-
I can’t really speak much to this because I don’t know much about it. But if I want to expose a tranny pedophile, the only place to do so is kiwi farms, anywhere else will ban me, right? Unless it’s some obscure shithole.
-
Put it this way, what I learned from KF is namely:
-Josh was way too high profile with shilling his site and when your site is high profile as fuck, it's going to draw the heat it does. In fact not only did he SEO boost hard (and some strategies like hiding the a&h forum were due to this) but also; Josh used to wordfilter. He removed it after one too many meltdowns.
-Which wouldn't be as much of an issue if it wasn't picking fights with tech company employees and well connected individuals looking for e-fame (Keffals). On KF, anyone right or left is fair game. They have threads on people like Hasan and Keffals, and threads on every big RW eceleb.
-The "in your face attitude" or "retard online phonebook" was with even forum users, which flashed over with the 2019 hack and literally posting the fucking leak on the forum because of a dare by the resident forum retard/shitposter. This led to users being harassed because of said leak as well by troons and the like. Others have left the site over this mindset.
-Dox is literally the riskiest thing to host online but honestly? Is it worth hosting online? It's not even ethical when every fat retard is SWATting each other or filing FBI reports on each other, and it can lead you to Daily Stormer style charges on a bad day.
-The site was very unfocused and had it been "leaner" and more focused on some subculture it would be easier to host, look at the girl gossip forums like lolcow.farm as an example. I learned this one because some guy who ran an archive of files criticized IA for this when they got sued by publishers and his complaint was their tendency to host anything and deal with legal issues later.
-Politispergs too, his forum began to attract /pol/ rejects who literally only care about current event. It got to the point where some people began to freely troll them. Josh will not remove this subforum because it brings in new users.
There's a lot more I could go into if I remembered it and many bad choices that made activity flatline, but the gist of it is don't be KF.
-
@PhenomX6 @cyberanathema @bot @animeirl @luithe > massive infighting
> doxing of community members
> hosting dox
> being high profile
i dont know why josh ever expected to be respected, like, hell even tolerated. He deseves everything he got. Absolute brain rot
-
@PhenomX6 @animeirl @bot @cyberanathema @luithe i wonder when its all over and KF is unhostable, what will be there for josh. I doubt any place will be too enthusiastic to hire him lol
-
I've heard several theories as for why Josh keeps continuing with KF but the best one is he's so far deep into it and that's all he has, and he'd Lowtax himself if he lost it (because Lowtax only had his forum for years).
Lowtax was more successful at least he had sex and kids even though his wives dumped his ass. Josh sits on his forum whining why he lacks a tradwife (he had that phase).
-
He wanted to be in the "old edgy" days of the internet but not realizing that everything he did was community suicide.
The reason the site's posting quality changed from pre-2019 to post-2019 is how he handled the hack. He lost all the oldfags but he was willing to get new politispergs signing up to whine about shit.
That's what led to the whole Drain Todger saga where a user signs up to post COVID schizo nonsense and gets doxed when they find his MLP fanfics because guys look at this autist online time to dox him.
-
I mean even Neo Nazis could probably get trashy girls who want to fuck the "thugs". Josh is fat.
-
@PhenomX6 @cyberanathema @bot @animeirl @luithe ahahahhahahahaha
what kind of woman would want such a high risk retard?
-
@PhenomX6 @cyberanathema @bot @animeirl @luithe more or less, he also has a baby face
-
ethan ralph did some weight loss challenge with josh and josh refused to post his weight IIRC because Josh is a fatass and doesn't want to admit it.
-
ethan ralph as much of a crazy dude as he is gets to live crazy booze fueled adventures while josh sits in his shitty room and cries that the serbs are doing construction on his apartment complex again.
-
@PhenomX6 @cyberanathema @bot @animeirl @luithe SAVIOR OF THE INTERNET
-
@PhenomX6 @MischievousTomato @cyberanathema @animeirl @luithe >Josh in particular dug himself there when he spent years trying to boost KF to the #1 in search for any topic and this took KF from a gossip forum into being what it is now.
A lot of people make this kind of bad decision.

After the PC-98 platform died (which acted as a region lock) and weird Japanese games (especially VNs/other eroge) began to be made for Windows, some developers began to program in batshit insane checks to be sure their games could only be played on systems it deemed to be Japanese, from checking locales to timezones.
It makes sense why some devs would do this; infamously after the Rapelay scandal (in which boomer Japanese politicians said "ban this sick filth" and western journoscum found the most fucked up hentai game on purpose to shit on), many devs who made games nowhere near as fucked began to geolock their site IP and reminded people their games were "for sale in Japan only". Even Alice soft did this at this time.
Of course since then VNs/eroge games have gained cult followings in the west, but they remain exclusively in the realm of nerds. To western normie weebs, VNs are like how capeshit movie watchers see comics: they don't care.
-
@ehhh @MischievousTomato @cyberanathema @animeirl @luithe one of the most insane was a SNES emulator dev who programmed in a check and if you tried to translate it your windows folder would get deleted.
Something about the SNES seems to attract autism like that I don't get it.
-
@PhenomX6 @MischievousTomato @cyberanathema @animeirl @luithe That's so interesting, I didn't know that.
-
@ehhh @MischievousTomato @cyberanathema @animeirl @luithe 90s for context
-
@PhenomX6 @MischievousTomato @cyberanathema @animeirl @luithe WUT. Lol that's pretty extreme. Wouldn't Windows detect it as a virus then?
