@onepict @anna Yep. And ditto for getting sponsorship from surveillance capitalists, etc. That’ why I attended OFFDEM last year but will not attend FOSDEM (or any other FOSS/human rights/etc., conference that whitewashes surveillance capitalists).

Not with it's history and not with the current organisers. FOSDEM resisted having a robust COC for years.
We're going to find this with established tech events, who have always catered for the audience they know rather than the wider community.
So perhaps the answer is to organise new ones, this is why events like FOSSY and North Bay Python are awesome.

Anna e só (anna@friend.camp)'s status on Sunday, 04-Feb-2024 02:17:08 JST Anna e só My opinion about #FOSDEM: I had to experience it at least once, I think, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to be one of the keynoters.
But that smugness while saying “Yes, we’re a superspreader event, yes, you should probably wear a mask, but 🤷🏻 we ain’t making it a policy, you do you” killed me. I attended it once, but won’t attend it again (as I suspected).
