     No it isn't. It's a mass disabling event, and significant drag on the health and healthcare systems of the nation, and causing continually compounding brain damage in children and adults. Whatever your 'economic analysis' is, if it's not taking covid into account it's probably going to be wrong.

     that means that covid (and its impacts on the labour market) is going to be worse in the US than elsewhere (which it is)

     The US has relaxed its COVID-19 measures, as far as I can tell.
     
     Here none are evident.
