   hey y'all. how do you verify a check sum from a download? gonna install avidemux but its stating i should check md5. there a stock software to do this?

     @coolboymew @greyknight Yeah in linux you should be able to open terminal and use the md5sum command to find the md5 hash of your file.

     @ooignignoktoo @greyknight I keep forgetting the command! But in general you should be able to see all of the popular hashes by default on your distro

     I haven't used Linux too heavily recently I just know that was the old school way of doing it back in the early 2010's when I used it a lot

     @greyknight @coolboymew If it doesn't work depending on your distro you could always use your built in package manager. I know the *buntu distros typically have it installed by default. I'd assume Arch does it well if not it's likely in the pacman repo.
