x11 got vr support in 2 months. In wayland it took more than 2 years and gnome wayland still doesn't support it. That's despite x11 vr being worked by 1 person and wayland vr being worked on by 6+ people. If the focus was still on x11 instead of wayland then x11 would have got way further than wayland could ever go. Commits have been reverted in x11 even back in 2008 because "wayland is around the corner". Wayland has sabotaged the linux desktop for more than 15 years.oh and also nvidia proposed a hdr protocol for x11 back in 2008, but it went nowhere because people were not interested. Most likely because of wayland. Thanks, wayland! we could have had hdr support back in 2008!
