@menherahair Second one sounds like a pre-immersive sim. Like Half-Life where you could only move boxes in a single direction without full control of their placement since there wasn't a proper prop physics engine back then.

let's try to define it at the guts instead: stacking boxes
immersive sim: you can stack boxes and jump on them to reach places and obstruct paths
post-immersive sim: you can stack boxes, but they may behave like magnets, or differently depending on the number
non-immersive sim: you can move boxes, but you can't stack them? they may still be used to reach places and obstruct paths? eg, they clip through themselves and you, but if something walks into them they still do something
