     The first level was technically Yoshi's island 1 which I always thought was weird because 2 was the easier one and more new player friendly with it's level gimmicks (like the koopa shell 1up, yoshi)
     
     However Yoshi's island 1 leads to the yellow switch. Which is probably the most important switch in the game.
     
     SMW was very much designed to be an exploration game with the "level skipping" of the older games in mind. Which is why the back door to Bowser can be reached within 15 to 20 mins from the game start. Yoshi's island 2 being the easier level is probably a bait for new players because if they skip 1 they'll find out the yellow blocks are missing in the next few levels and they will have to backtrack, hence force players to search the map for levels. In the next map area pretty much every level has multiple exits. :mario_think: 🍄
