for the last few months every couple days find my front door open after someone ran out in a hurry. Oddly when I close the door myself it latches just fine. People are going to get hurt if this continues and my dog catches on. It's an old door, but I can't reproduce the behavior without being an asshole and slamming the inside door and storm door like I'm being chased by Jason Vorhees. I can probably rehang the door to make it slam better but I'd rather people around here would just pay attention to what they are doing and treat my house like it's over a hundred years old.

@feld I really wish they'd just stop being so damn careless tbh. I've never had to rehang an old door, but I've installed new interior and exterior doors. I did have to fix one of the hinges on this door because the holes were worn out (likely because of this exact kind of abuse) which caused the door to sag. At least when it was sagging the friction kept this problem from happening.

@thatguyoverthere oooh man that reminds me somewhere I have this crazy PDF some dude sold online with incredibly detailed instructions on how to fix/adjust doors correctly because it is a bit of a science...

@feld if you happen to come across the pdf and want to share I wouldn't mind
