   The terms come from the cold war, and now are appropriate for current posturing.

   Nato is 1st, Warsaw pact was 2nd, now brics. 3rd world is everyone else

     I use them in their contemporary meaning:
     
     * First world = developed nations
     * Second world = semi-developed
     * Third world = "developing"
     
     Whatever terms we use, the intent is pretty clear.
     
     Western Europe, Japan, and Israel are first world.
     
     Southern Europe, Ireland, Eastern Europe, and the Mediterranean are something less.
     
     Most of the middle east, Asia, Africa, and the New World are under-95 average IQ primitive nations with a few rich people living first world lifestyles.
