   #Threads is attempting to communicate the inclusion of quote posts in their AP messages.

   Unfortunately, there’s not a true agreed upon standard for quote posts. Some #FediApp developers have made an agreement amongst themselves as to how that should work. Threads is not following those rules and has decided to use a _misskey_quote attribute in the AP messages. This isn’t coming across in the quote post format in most apps I use.

     Currently the only formal proposal is FEP-e232. It allows multiple quotes and uses only standard Link type from ActivityStreams, but it is not widely implemented.

     The de-facto standard is quoteUrl property.

     _misskey_quote may be recognized by some servers but not all.

     I'm adding rel="https://misskey-hub.net/ns#_misskey_quote"

     AFAIK Streams and Pleroma doesn't add rel at all, so Mitra would accept any FEP-e232 Link regardless of rel value (as long as it points to something that looks like "post")

     Looking at that proposal, how would use use this to replace (or supplement) the quoteUrl field? Use rel=quote?

     @teknomunk @box464 @pcottle It already contains an example of a quote in "Examples" section.

     rel property is not really required.

     Possible rel values were discussed on SocialHub but there was no consensus, so FEP doesn't provide any recommendations.

     I think it would help other developers (including future me) if this information was added to the FEP page, perhaps as an example.

     Yeah quote posts are in a tricky spot. We implemented both FEP-e232 as well as the _misskey_quote field (which usually gets checked alongside quoteUrl). This was intentional so we can get some immediate product adoption off the ground (with the unofficial key) and also be somewhat future-proof when the FEP gains more traction.
