if every job de facto requires taking on a large amount of debt, either for a degree or for training, why *would* people choose to work in less lucrative fields? there's a reason colleges are shitting out a billion Computer Science Lite graduates every year
it's not even really about long term income. it's about telling everyone they need to start deep in a hole and pick the ladder they'll use to climb out ahead of time, and they're not going to pick some rickety half rotten ladder, let alone a ladder they're not sure even exists
