   according to hashcat, when I resume running my laptop jumps from 37C to 95C within about 5 seconds.

   that seems, uh, thermodynamically unlikely.

     anyway, UGH

     I have on my desk in front of me, three powerful computers (not counting the phones and the 386s). all three of them cannot handle running hashcat without crashing because of thermal problems

     I heard from an ex-google SRE that they once had a datacenter fire and were able to track (remotely) how the fire spread by watching the servers go down one by one
