The trick is simple and obvious and I suspect many here have been aware for a long time... the Ds and Rs are the same on the big issues, the economy, war, being mutually corrupt. This is where everyone gets fucked.
Where they differ are meager social issues, abortion, 2A, gender, tradition vs tolerance.
The latter is a smoke screen, or better yet, a numbing agent to keep you unaware of that giant effing you're getting in the backside.

At the state level they do a bit.
