Just uploaded the 0.9 Beta release of Aseprite to Internet Archive. It works on Windows XP, making a perfect pairing with RPG Maker 2003! https://archive.org/details/aseprite-0.9-win32

  This is 0.9 Beta of Aseprite, the well known pixel art and animation program. This of course lacks many features of the current release, but it does support layers at the least. I tested this on WinXP SP3 and it makes a great pair for RPG Maker 2003.Be sure to check out and support the up-to-date release on https://www.aseprite.org/CHANGELOG FOR 0.9:Added Import/Export Sprite Sheet.Added support to resize the window in X11, Mac OS X, and Windows platforms.Improved "Canvas Size" command.New color selectors with improved RGB and HSB sliders. Changes in keyboard shortcuts (some of these changes were made to avoid tool-switching confusion): Elliptical Marquee: Shift+M (it was "M")Polygonal Lasso: Shift+Q (it was "Q")Ellipse: Shift+U (it was "U")Polygon: Shift+D (it was "D")Curve: Shift+L (it was "Y")Spray: Shift+B (it was "S") Added automatic check for updates. Bugs fixed: Don't ask for saving changes when read-only commands are used.File dialog does not show files (sometimes).

  Since uploading this, I've found out that the official Aseprite website hosts ver. 0.9.5 still. I've been using that version as of late since it has some big fixes, but overall it works the same as 0.9
