The super big icons are nice, but there's a lot of pointless wasted space around. On the other hand, you get to see the game's full title on the icons... However, you'd have to be an idiot to actually need that constantly?
@ChristiJunior I dunno, after the Wii, Wii U and 3DS it's just too basic, no music, it's empty. It's missing a lot of oomph, it's almost as dead as the Playstation UI
@coolboymew I just wish it had themes available like the 3DS does, got a lot good ones on that, like Xenoblade, Majora's Mask and Kirby Planet Robobot themes.
@ChristiJunior I've thought about it, but the problem with themes is that the icons are too big. There's indeed some space around, which I wonder if they did that to allow more themes in the future, but they never got to it and saw that there still wasn't enough space, vs the 3DS menu which allowed for empty spaces and screen customizations
With that missed opportunity, I'm hoping for a full realization of it with the Switch 2 and hopefully surprises at launch or on year one like the badge arcade and other cool shit
The current profile icon thing is.... nice, but it was too little too late and only first parties? No in game rewards to unlock icons? I dunno man, it's...
@coolboymew It took WAAAY to long for Xenoblade 2 icons to arrive, but better late than never.
Still utterly baffled that we never got Fire Emblem Three Houses characters as icons, fucking hell, Dimitri, Edelgard and Claude even made it into Engage as DLC!
The bare minimum for free Switch Icons should have been all the Icons that are available in Smash Ultimate.
@coolboymew Yeah, at one point I had pretty much given up on Xenoblade Icons altogether, but they stepped it up during 2nd half of 2022, and since then a lot of games I never expected to be repped have gotten Icons.
