tho fun thing, with the security measures of electrical substations you have higher chances to get injured from checking on a microwave oven or a crt tv...

lmao and who do you think also has to check if those things even exist?
i have seen too many wired horrors :kek_pain:New Janny in Town likes this. -

I ACTUALLY HAVE BOTH since i work with the big scary stuff(mainly backup energy sources/battery banks)
leaf blower for the big clean and comp air for the cards, also sometimes have to use brushes because the dust mixes with the air hummidity and eventually becomes a crust of mud :kek_pain: -
EdBoatConnoisseur (edboatconnoisseur@poa.st)'s status on Monday, 22-Jan-2024 14:45:40 JST EdBoatConnoisseur @rlier23 and that is why you always carry a can of compressed air on the toolbag, tho that shit sounds like you'd need a leaf blower instead...

EdBoatConnoisseur (edboatconnoisseur@poa.st)'s status on Monday, 22-Jan-2024 15:05:00 JST EdBoatConnoisseur @rlier23 i've worked on multiple old microwave ovens... the chinese ones are downright terrifiying cuz as i said the blob of hot glue that made it impossible to discharge the high volt cap before removing it is not the worse thing, there was one where the 120v caps from the power source had bare leads going over multiple components for some chinese reason...

salty_apollyon (rlier23@bae.st)'s status on Monday, 22-Jan-2024 15:05:01 JST salty_apollyon @EdBoatConnoisseur i have never worked on chinese stuff tbh.
all the machines i have(cept for tvs) are either as old or older than me. -
EdBoatConnoisseur (edboatconnoisseur@poa.st)'s status on Monday, 22-Jan-2024 15:05:02 JST EdBoatConnoisseur @rlier23 man, i once went to a substation that had wiring "insulated" with plastic bags tied around the splices... and i mean the kind of plastic bag where the food carts will pour coca cola...
even then i'd trust that shit more than the innards of chinese appliances, now those pieces of shit are the stuff of nightmare, 2000 vol caps held with a massive blob of hot glue so you cannot discharge them to the chasis is just the start...

But I'm in the us so everything might be ok pristine condition or new :kek_pain: -
salty_apollyon (rlier23@bae.st)'s status on Monday, 22-Jan-2024 15:17:15 JST salty_apollyon @luithe @EdBoatConnoisseur i have seen entire hospitals that lack any sort of blueprint for their wiring and electric instalations.
it's nerve wracking knowing that if i fuck up i could accidentally shut down someone's life support
