@hazlin Yeah it was that tricky period from late antiquity to the middle ages where everything was thrown into such chaos, we just don't have any records from the time.
@hazlin I've been working on my genealogy the past few months and in genealogy circles there's this thing called confirmed descent from antiquity. Being able to trace one's genealogy to Roman times.
There's no one I know of who has a confirmed descent from antiquity. There are a few Italian noble families who some think might be descended from Roman noble families. Some also think that you can trace Charlemagne's descent back to Constantine and thus back to the Roman republic but that isn't a well accept genealogy either.
@hazlin Overall this was kinda a waste of time. Her interviewer is this insane former professor who got famous from making an asian-only porn film to comment about the desexualization of asian men (ricecel). I think the idea of tracing modern bloodlines back to ancient times is cool but she just talked without saying anything, it was extremely schizophrenic.
Oh and she also says that anyone with blonde/red hair and blue/green eyes is Persian. Which is probably true on a long enough time frame
@hazlin I'm 30 minutes in, this is pretty brutal. She's saying jesuits are trying to genocide the planet with radiation and that Italians are really Persians.
@Vril_Oreilly I've noticed that. I've got an amazing collection of books on the middle ages, but when I tried to go back farther than that, it was a joke by comparison. "Is this all they are basing things on?!"
