@coolboymew You know a lot of these niggerfaggots have admitted straight out they are fucking with the dubs on purpose because "nazis" and "representation". It cannot be overstated how much they deserve to be thrown in a volcano.
@coolboymew Unfortunately this is a problem as old as history, 1001 Arabian Nights was vastly changed and added to when it was brought to a European audience. The only solution other than a weeb billionaire who cares suddenly buying all the English distribution rights would be for the Japanese companies to do their own dubbing, but that's not likely unless the problem started to hurt their profits, and for better or worse anime is more popular than ever right now.
@Zettour@coolboymew The problem as always is people having zero respect for the original material, and the solution as always is to learn moonrunes or whatever language it's originally in. Can't rely on others for your animated school girl SoL unfortunately
@Kerosene@Zettour People think it's a play or something "Uh, the original material is the manga so their own interpretation of the dub is valid" no it's fucking not, the Director already did the Manga/LN to Anime conversion
Pretty much everyone in these discussions 100% out themselves as Americans. I had to deal with French dubs of stuff all my life and due to my special location, also eventually get to hear the originals. I know what a good dub is
Fuck, when I was NEETing at some point, I was REALLY into Dr.House. The dub was so fucking good I could watch it in French, then in English, then in French again without feeling like I just crossed dimensions
@Zettour@coolboymew Now this obviously doesn't address the problem of globohomo inserting its malaise into the material from the very beginning, but at that point the solution is neither learning a language nor getting better translators/voice actors but outright killing the subverters.
@Kerosene@Zettour Oh yeah, during movie night we watched some videos that compared Hollywood movie dubs of a particular movie and Russian is like that D=
One of the better dub industry is the French (And possibly QC depending on the movie) one from what I've seen. We have a VA that sounds exactly like Eddie Murphy for example, and pretty much imitate all of his voice inflections. He sounds exactly like if Eddie Murphy was talking in French
@coolboymew@Zettour I also just remembered that Russian anime dubs are literally guys voicing over the original audio, japanese voices included lmao. And even that I bet is a million times better than whatever Americans get on a regular basis.
@coolboymew@Zettour Yes I feel like the dub thing is purely an american thing. I remember watching many anime back in the day on TV, dubbed to Spanish, and it was great. Not only that but also the million of American shows dubbed to Spanish also had very, very good quality. To this day everyone in Latin America loves the Spanish dub of the Simpsons, it's fantastic.
@Zettour@coolboymew Or the studio/director just hates what's done overseas, see Ghibli for example where it feels like they basically do commissions on studios like Disney because Nausicaä got trashed once.
Someone presented a clip of a Japanese Anime that was translated and references to Jews, Israel and or Zionism were removed they posted a second translation that included them
The same type of editing can occur with both voice actors and text
