   I have a theory that part of YouTube's big push back on ad blockers now is part of a contract with the military that said "get rid of all of them". There is no economic sense in going for the last 5% of people who use invidious so aggressively. I have been setting up a new OS without adblock yet and almost every ad I've gotten so far has something to do with the army.

     @RustyCrab @inertia install ublock for a normie and you'll find them call you a week later because 'everything looks weird' and they want it back to normal. It really is baffling that YouTube is investing so much energy into anti-adblock.

     Its probably just the diversity hire ape accidentally hitting the terminate ad blocker key while peeling a banana. Shrinkflation having made the peeling much more arduous than it used to be.

     @inertia look I know you're shitposting but youtube would internally know that spending so much engineering effort to hit like %2 of their user base who will never watch ads no matter what makes no sense. There has to be SOME outside force telling them to do this. They started the exact same time that the army started spamming ads on youtube and really upping their recruitment efforts.
     
     *note: just because someone else is telling them to do it does not make youtube less of a piece of shit
