I love the Kit Adam lego keyboard and it’s been my daily driver for months now. And today learned that if you accidentally press Fn + Return, it triggers the 0x5CDE key (that’s actually what’s on the label in Vial) which does a factory reset and loses all the custom settings you evolved over the last half a year or however long it is for you.
Excellent design, folks.
(Good design is as much about making dangerous things hard to do as it is about making the most important things easy.)

@chris Well, on the bright side, it’s a fresh start and it makes you realise what you use everyday. For me, the major things appear to be hold-to-shift as well as an overloaded Caps Lock key that uses a tap dance so that if I press it once, it acts like Scroll Lock, which I have mapped to my compose key (so, press once to compose a character) and double tap to function as Caps Lock and a couple of typographical shortcuts for curly quotes and various types of brackets, again to avoid shift :)

@aral That reminds me way too much of when Apple first launched the touch bar. I spent so much time configuring different apps and all with it and loved it... until something upgraded which would reset the whole damn thing.

@chris Well, I think I mostly got it back to how it was now – will no doubt find a few missing settings as I go. But also just made sure to (a) move the reset key to an unused layer (keeping it so I have it for reference if I ever need it) and (b) exported/backed up my current settings in Vial.

@chris Yeah, darn thing is I had initially wondered what that key was and had a sneaky suspicion it was exactly what it turned out to be and so I had exported my settings previously but I hadn’t kept doing it as I evolved the layout :)

@aral Oh good. At least there's a backup this time. I've taken to keeping a minimum of software and backups of everything I can for crap like this. Nothing can be trusted.
