Machismo (zerglingman@freespeechextremist.com)'s status on Wednesday, 17-Jan-2024 03:41:19 JST Machismo How should I translate this name? Literal is "North Crayl's ground/earth/vast land".
Earlier I just put "the land of Northern Crayl" but I'm not happy with it, especially for this sort of banner/intro.
What do you call this sort of place in English? Desert, wasteland... Badlands? Arid land?
There isn't really a clearer picture of it.

I guess I don't actually really know what badlands is/are. Is it just "an empty, ~uninhabitable space"? In that case it's probably fine?
Though I have a feeling this is a very common term in these sorts of settings - it's magic and potions and demon beasts and all that - and I don't remember what anyone else has translated this as.
I'm not even sure this fits the usual bill, it's not exactly "the edge of the demon land", because the demons come from the black sun or smth. -

Maybe "Dead lands", "No mans plain", "Empty crevasse" or "Vast crevasse" are what other words come to my mind. It looks like a big crack and a former glacial flow. Maybe synonym like "Large Expanse"

I guess it doesn't have to be a name, per se, but badlands still seems more suitable.
