     @itsfoss I just installed VanillaOS as my brothers first Linux distro yesterday. That over night VanillaOS 2 went von alpha to beta is kinda cool.

     The primary reason I selected VanillaOS for him is the immutability. It means less work for me, as he can't break the system.

     @Theholypumpkin Indeed, Vanilla OS is a great choice.

     @itsfoss I personally wouldn't use an immutable distro, because haw you dare to prevent me from breaking my system 😂.

     But for a novice it's kinda perfect.

     Also fixing his system would entail a two hour ride by train or car.

     I considered NixOS for him too, but I figured it's probably less for beginners.
