Most normies will never deal with this though. It's when you are lifting heavy weight, you don't want sweaty hands to mess up your grip. It's used when you bench 200 plus or squat like 250-300. When you get into the heavy weights you need to be able to grip the bar/weight.cool_boy_mew likes this. -

i can lift more than probably 90% of the population in my age range. however when it comes to competition status, I'm bottom 10% right now. I "lift" more than the average person, but I don't have interest in competing.

I have aroun 54" shoulders and a 32" waist
But when I get on a workout binge, I end up around 185, bench about 300, 60-80 pushups in a row, 18 or so pullups and able to run a 10k at around a 8.5 min pace.
I don't squat so my squat is bad. When i'm working on it for 3-6 months I can get 300 plus but I'm always way too scared to die so I don't really do it. For legs I mostly run and do body weight stuff.
I was super in shape until thanksgiving when I put on literally 15 pounds from holiday food. 🙄 -

Most people go to heavy, doing 10 good form squats at like 100 lbs is better than 3 horrible form at 200 lbs.
Most people just have no idea, so I recommend people don't squat. If you are going to do it, spend like 2 hours watching youtube videos. You just have to learn how to not put the weight into your back...
I do some overhead squats (hold a bar above your head) and I literally use like 40 lbs lol. I don't give a shit if someone judges me for light weight, 40lbs with good form does way morecool_boy_mew likes this. -

I lift super heavy weights with certain techniques to tire my arms, then do some other arms exercises with lesser weights (the limit I could for these anyways) and it actually leave me sore the day after
However, I end up having to leave some exercises, like lateral raises, because I just can't lift that amount anymore during my session. However, a few hours after? I probably could -

Building muscle is a lot more than just how much you lift.
There is fast twitch muscle, slow twitch, and then tendons that hold everything in place.
olympic gymnists don't curl 60 pound reps lol. They do 50 pull ups.
A lot of people who get into lifting just want to lift big things, but focus more on body functionality and you'll be "fit" not just strong.cool_boy_mew likes this. -

But overall I got into it via Ring Fit Adventure, mostly because of health. COVID years at home wrecked me on top of me absolutely fucking up my upperback like an idiot. Ring Fit's overhead press absolutely gave me a lot of muscles on the upper arms and strengthen the right muscles on the upper back with back press
It completely solved my upper back problem -

For example, if you do a heavy weighted leg day and are so or can't walk right, do body weight squats to warm up the muscles and get blood flowing.
Getting fit is about listening to your body, so also try out stretching and eating a proper diet.
you'll get more gains from these sorts of things than simply focusing on "HOW MUCH CAN YOU LIFT"cool_boy_mew likes this. -

I think she was around 170lb to 180lb back then while i certainly was more fit at about 200lb and uhh i think 19yo
