   Russia:

   On Friday, the Investigatory Committee – loosely analogous to an FBI on steroids – ordered an enquiry into potential price fixing, following on the heels of Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov’s decision to launch his own probe. Rather more directly, the much-feared Federal Security Service (FSB) has been instructed to arrest anyone hoarding eggs.

     @thatguyoverthere @Flick For context, Putin froze prices and top down regulated the retail market for common goods to prevent price gouging for the duration of RU-UA conflict.
     Apparently enough people tried to skirt the rules for them to enforce emergency decrees.

     @white_male @Flick it seems weird to me that governments don't do the "victory garden" line of propaganda more tbh, especially when they are being hit with sanctions and other international economic pressures. Like instead of saying "someone is hording all the eggs" you can say "maybe it's time for more people to learn how to raise chickens in their backyard".

     @Flick @white_male oh I don't mean to suggest that they go bad quick or anything just that it's not nonperishable like say toilet paper or even economically shelf stable over a long period like potatoes.

     @thatguyoverthere @white_male How are you storing them? They should be good for a couple of months without any special effort. When I had ducks, I didn’t even think about breaking them separately to check for six weeks or so.

     @Flick @thatguyoverthere I'm not really hoarding, getting about weeks worth at a time and just putting them in ventilated storage during cold months and fridge in warm ones.
