@Jonathanglick @kissane If it's just open source then how is the guy coming into the version I'm in? there are obviously connections between the difference versions. Why would Mastodon be okay with these people using their resources? Words can kill.

So even though you're on mastodon.cloud and I'm on iddqd.social, those two servers can communicate with each other. It's called federation. So not only can different instances of Mastodon talk to each other in this fashion, but instances of different programs entirely that just use the same protocol can also do this.
