   It is not Linux's job to stop you from shooting your foot. If you so choose to do so, then it is Linux's job to deliver Mr. Bullet to Mr. Foot in the most efficient way it knows.

     @nixCraft I disagree. We can argue that it is important to have distros in which you can shoot your foot but denying the importance of distros for Users who are not tech savy is toxic gatekeeping.

     @nixCraft Honestly that was the best way Linux taught me not to shoot myself in the foot was allowing me to break stuff and learn how to fix it

     If "Linux" is less effective than other OSes in protecting ordinary users from running into trouble, that will certainly not help with its popularity.
