@wgiwf @AnimeGirlConnoisseur @SuperSnekFriend My theory is that girls with strong Rivals from their own shows will struggle, because it means their own show's fanbase won't be united behind them. That would explain Tifa bombing in the vidya tournament (us Aerith fans refusing to vote for her), 2B disappointing (A2 fans were loudly against her), and now Megumin bombing (Aqua and Darkness fans both opposing her).
The big test for this theory will be Rei and Asuka, if they too flop or underperform, I'll be a lot more sure that I'm right.
Keep in mind, FRIENDLY rivalries don't apply here - Pyra has lots of Xenoblade 2 Waifu competition, but most Pyra VS Mythra and Pyra VS Nia debates have come to be defined by mutual respect and appreciation. So Pyra ended up being a Top 5 girl in her competition, going by extrapolated strength. I'll go over this more when covering Pyra's bonus match in the best vidya girl contest writeup.

@ArdainianRight @AnimeGirlConnoisseur @SuperSnekFriend @wgiwf Those rivalries seem pretty friendly too. The Remilia VS Flandre thread was something of a lovefest, and Reimu VS Marisa was also pretty positive.
2B VS A2 was way more vicious.
Touhou girls were hurt by other forms of anti-voting, especially after Patchouli's controversial win over May.
