How much discord doesn't care about linux
I opened a ticket in Discord support about not being able to share screen, they answered me:
"So sorry for the streaming trouble with your Linux"
The fix they gave me:
"Check your OS drivers are up to date, you can use Windows update to update your OS"
"To update your driver's check Windows Device Manager"
Why in the fucking world they are telling me to use Windows Update ON LINUX!!.
This kind of responses only could confuse new Linux users that go to discord support page.

@theorytoe @meso Matrix exists, and it's the natural alternative. Part of the problem is getting people to use it, though.
-
@theorytoe @meso Yeah, them requiring it is actually what threw me onto fedi. I used to hang out with a bunch of discord people and discord admins made me verify my account due to VPN stuff.
Usually when that happens I just make a new account, but now making a new account requires a phone number, and they got *real* strict about how that phone number is used. Can't even use a burner for it, I tried.

dang
ofc my number (i think) was linked and verified (this was before I went all freetard)
also somehow Ive never needed a ph# for my alt
yeah I wanna move away from it but theres literally no other good alternative.

@meso
wait they require that now?
damn
-
@meso I haven't been able to use discord at all ever since they started requiring new people to verify with their IRL phone number. Has this changed, or am I still fucked?

@ceo_of_monoeye_dating @meso
yeah ive used matrix
and it every time has been a slow, buggy, and unfun mess.
XMPP is better because it hasnt broken on my once
but yeah like zero people I know use it (not like that is much of a margin for anything because I know zero people to begin with LOL)
