     Sometimes it's a "lie" that everyone individually knows is a lie, but it's kind of face-saving for everyone to go along with it.
     
     The 'investors' who are incentivized to buy into this are money managers for boomer retirement funds who need to explain what they were doing.
     
     It's a lie that nobody really wants to debunk.
