     My first thought seeing this: what's the most common aarch64 arm linux device in use. Oh yeah, raspberry pi's. Youtube want to make sure they can actually watch videos on them. They don't give a shit about asahi linux lol.

     @gray @Pawlicker @thegreatape I think it was the same on Apple TV, which had a firmware that loads a Mach kernel from hardcoded path, people just made a fake kernel that loads Linux instead.

     @Pawlicker @thegreatape I took a quick look through the documentation it sounds to me like the boot loader on an M* Mac won't even boot if it doesn't detect macOS.
     
     Sounds like Asahi has to chain load through the Mac's recoveryOS to boot. (I'm not a developer or well versed on this stuff so I might be totally misreading that.)

     I can't imagine why you'd go through the hassle when you can just get any other computer.

     My favorite part is you have to dual boot macos with it, and that's probably not going to go away. So no matter what, you WILL have macos on your linux laptop. I'm pretty sure the install method is sudo piping an online script to bash as well lmfao.
