     At my lowest point my family made a choice and I can't look at them the same anymore.

     Everyone's family relationships changed over this - mostly across old to young, but also across female to male.

     Now that everyone knows I'm an ornery asshole, life is so much better.

     When I did get covid around that same timeon a family vacation they just left my bedriden ass there and went shopping!

     I had to hobble downstairs at the hotel and get some tea to stay hydrated.

     They came back 3 hours later with some stale zaxbys and yelled at me for ruining their vacaction.

     Haven't talked to most of them since.

     If I can't trust my family to take care of me when I'm sick then what's the point?

     Dude, this is why we have myths and stories about the blind father and the rescuing son.

     Old kings cannot see things, they hold onto power, etc

     BUT..

     Hard decisions like fathers insisting on a family-wide vaxx make sense from their point of view because they also have to be prepared to deal with the consequences of being wrong.

     Dependents don't have that burden.

     If you had dependants you would have legit skin in the game from a father's point of view.

     Men respect the opinions of other men carrying similar burdens. Your father made a wrong choice but also did the right thing.

     Understanding that paradox is the key to resolving the conflict.

     One thing that annoys me about my family is they never really explain anything.

     Also in my defense I stopped talking to most of my family because they didn't take care of me when I was sick like they always do.

     I can only assume:

     1. They didn't care that covid knocked me on my ass due to my political stance.

     2. They got me sick on puprose to teach me a lesson.

     3. They cared more about having fun on vacation then staying with me.

     Either way the whole ordeal gave me SERIOUS trust issues.

     Fair enough, but look at it from my POV.

     My credit card is maxxed out because my parents won't loan me any $ as they think I'm nutjob about the vax.

     In my darkest hour of my young adult life I received more compassion from TFM and you guys than my own family.

     Let that sink in..

     An anon chimp on the internet who wouldn't know if I died tomorrow was more help in a time of crisis than my own flesh and blood.

     Let's grant you all those assumptions. Let's say your family did all of that stuff.

     The only positive way forward would be to lose the butthurt through action to become your own man while also maintaining respect for your father and all he has done. No hate.

     You wouldn't have to agree with him on anything & that would still be true.

     When you've done the work, he will contend with you. Until then, no bitching, just work.

     I agree and I 'm working my plan.

     It's just that every once in a while the memories flood back to at random times like:

     -Seeing a Father and son doing some activity together like fishing knowing I never had nor will I have that.

     - Podcasts of people talking about how closer they are with their family.

     It's happening less with time but I'm still struglling with it.
