@MK2boogaloo Yeah, as I said, I put $100 in. Which was AUD, not USD - I promised I'd put in $100 USD for all their albums, but this one had two tracks located elsewhere, so I split a bit of that $100 into those according to how much I liked them (if I could adjust it now, I'd bump up Jun/AKA's share).
But then I'm including the people involved in those tracks in those 15, and those two tracks only got about 50 sales each!
In practice probably most people only put $20-30 in so I don't care that my estimates are horrible.

>no minimum album price
You are a touhou metalcore whale.
-
@laurel @MK2boogaloo I wish I was. That would be more like $500.
I wish I could throw $500 at them every time.

Which one is their best album?
-
@laurel @MK2boogaloo Oh geeze man. Asking the hard questions. Where do I even start...
I guess if I just rank all their songs then take the top half of it and check which album appears most frequently?
(Or just add up all the points of their positions in the ranking and count the lowest score the winner?)
I can probably safely say it's not Permanence, at least, but that's not to say that Aion isn't a fantastic song, or Timeless Dissonance, or Prayer, or hollow hope...
... Which is already over half the album. Honestly only Absolver is a weak track, and that's like... It's still good, I just don't care so much about instrumentals (and Puppeteer is better than it in the instrumental ranking).
I'd probably say wither. is the best example of them, in that it's reasonably consistent and very strong, but then Remnants may be a better showcase because it just goes everywhere.
If I had to choose one to be the only music I listened to for the rest of my life, I'd probably end up just rolling a die, because I love them all too much.

@MK2boogaloo @laurel (Oh and, even though I didn't mention Shattered, I'd say 知らせ is probably their best track of all time.)
-
@Zerglingman @MK2boogaloo
>知らせ
This sounds indeed excellent, I stopped less than 5 seconds in though so I don't spoil myself. I'll start with your other recommendations first.
Thanks for introducing them to us.

@laurel @MK2boogaloo On Remnants, Last Light is probably my top pick. But it's a very hard choice; How Bright You Burn, Somnus and Deseo are all very strong too. How Bright is related to Phantom Moon from wither., which I didn't enjoy as much until I heard the former. I think Last Light may also be connected to Deceiver but it's tenuous. (I'm still not sure about Aion and Shallow. The first second and a half is EXACTLY the same but that's it.)

I'll post my favorites too after I listen to them for a while.

@Zerglingman @MK2boogaloo
Btw, music has been hit pretty hard by people not meeting and listening to music irl like they used to.
Musical subcultures are almost extinct.
Turns out music has a pretty big social element.
We should be sharing tracks and artists more often.
I wish it was possible to make a group to share music.
Maybe I should just host a guppe instance.
-
@laurel @MK2boogaloo Never heard of guppe. What's it?
>funkwhale
>lemmy
-
@MK2boogaloo @laurel I have a lemmy instance; I put a community there for organising RPGs. Nobody uses it!
-
@Zerglingman @MK2boogaloo
>Never heard of guppe. What's it?
It's basically a groupbot instance.
Users created there work similarly to the BookClub group bot. If one of the members mentions the group user then the post gets repeated and shows up to everyone following the group.
>I have a lemmy instance
Oh I didn't know, what's the url?
Biggest problem I see with lemmy is that it's not compatible with pleroma.
I was thinking of forking the azorius lemmy implementation and adding pleroma support but haven't done it yet.
-
@laurel @MK2boogaloo spare.botegirl.parts
Thanks to @graf for the idea when he mentioned tomboy.parts was available.
-
@laurel @MK2boogaloo Also isn't lemmy compatible with pleroma? You just can't make new posts, but if someone else makes one you can comment on it.
I suppose I could just make a bot to forward posts to lemmy. First line is read in as title, rest as body. Then it responds with URL.
