need to save up for a R7 5800X3D :dead_inside:

@BallsackGyroper1488 R5 2400g
-
@ryuuji What cpu are you running now?
-
@ryuuji Shit, that's still a good cpu. I was still rocking my i3 3220 for years before upgrading to the Ryzen 7 3700X. And before the i3 I was using a Pentium D processor.
-
@BallsackGyroper1488 yeah it's still good enough for a few things, but as i acquire more skills with different softwares, i realize that im gonna need a stronger PC that can multitask and still be good enough for gaming
-
@ryuuji Fair enough, you could always reuse your current computer as a nas/server or something.
-
@Suzu @BallsackGyroper1488 im picking the 5800x3d because i dont think im gonna change my PC from here to maybe 2026 or 2027 or even longer. I need something that last me quite a while to make just one big purchase.

@BallsackGyroper1488 @ryuuji biggest advantage is that there's big chances that with just a BIOS update your current motherboard may be compatible with a 5800x3d
But if you think that one is too expensive, maybe check a 5700x.
I had a 4650G because I had no GPU when I built the PC, and after I got one, I started looking for a new CPU, and at first I thought about getting a 5800x3d, but ended up giving up because after a careful consideration I didn't think the performance difference between it and the 5700x was worth the price difference between them.
Granted, the 5800x3d is the most powerful gaming processor you can get on the AM4 platform, but still I don't think I'd use all its power before changing platforms in a few years.
