   Like, is it wintertime? Are the hens getting a whole lot of sunlight - think about it, now - in the winter. time?

     @WashedOutGundamPilot Sounds silly, I don't think feed can change LAYING behavior like that without OTHER symptoms and whatnot.
     Light will affect all sorts of hormones though.

     @Whitewall_Blasphemy Feed can change things a bit, like you see when you start free-rangin’ ‘em and suddenly the yolks are super chunky to the point they seem pre-cooked, I think it’s a function of how much bug-protein they’re getting in their diet.

     It’s just funny how the enthusiastic amateurs skip over all 30 lines of the startup checklist to say “brother don’t panic but somebody sabotaged our engines.”

     @WashedOutGundamPilot I don’t have any layers at the moment but yeah, I always just let my birds do their natural cycle and take winters off. Also the local family-run feed store I get my feed from would figure this out real quick and immediately drop whatever feed supplier is sending them shit.

     @EssentialUtinsil We’re still getting a couple per day but it’s only coming from 2 hens out of….a good number. I don’t think they know it’s wintertime at all, no matter how cold it gets

     Are most of the people scared of the low egg laying new poultry owners? These are the off months for hens.
     I also wonder if the expensive eggs is a city thing right now. Eggs in my area are the same price as ever, not expensive, but I live in the sticks.

     @whiskeychud On twitter, where this supposed brouhaha started, that seemed to be the case. I’m wondering if it’s just retarded shut-ins listening to histronic suburbanites fueling this thing. I don’t buy this shit from someone without a few years of this under his belt.

     If the 75 yo dude at the feedlot starts telling me he’s seeing something similar in all 150 of his birds then yeah, I’ll come around. But not so much when it’s just some lady looking for something to keep her busy while the kids are at school.

     We’re getting more sunlight these days, it makes sense the hens are laying more, but that’s not nearly as thrilling as a battle against evil, I guess
