I don’t think I’ve ever said thank you for your service in my entire life.
Being a millennial we got to see our buddies decide to head out and enlist (or commission, if they were smarter) and there just ain’t many that do it out of loyalty to their brothers in the foxhole, or freedom.
Most of my friends signed up because they were aimless, liked video games, liked guns, wanted the benefits, or the career. Not really the most selfless bunch. Seems like boomers just kept saying it because they heard it growing up and never updated their firmware, it’s just so cheesy, like talking about what the easter bunny is bringing next april
