The Amiga did have some distributors in Japan and it wasn't 100% unknown to some nerds, but the OS was not localized (you needed third party software for this btw) and most people wound up buying Japanese computers instead. I read about how some literal unknown composer made Espgaluda 1's OST because he was the only guy at the firm contracted out who knew how to make trackermusic (which the hardware/software used).

But for digital art, Japan had their own formats. .MAG was a very common format.
