@All_bonesJones this is specifically in response to all the bullshit I'm seeing around the SMRPG remake. LOADS of people were expecting an hard mode, because of course, you've been playing that game for like 25 years now?
Instead it got an easy mode in what is possibly the easiest JRPG out there. Of course, people complaining about it are being hit with the virtue signaling bullshit "Options are good"
-
@coolboymew @All_bonesJones It's astonishing how they thought SMRPG wasn't accessible enough and needed an easy mode.
-
they put an easy mode on smrpg? really? there's kids that have beaten that game easily. you can just play and go and do everything fine..
-
@mischievoustomato @All_bonesJones yeah for real. I can't even imagine how easy it is
-
the *only* time i had a hard time completing SMRPG was because i didn't understand english well when i was little so i got stuck at the half point of the game
-
@Blouie @coolboymew @All_bonesJones Its not an "easy" mode, they even had to change that to "breezy" to not offend those who can't handle "basic reading comprehension".
-
@coolboymew @All_bonesJones holy crap, an easy mode in Super Mario RPG. I beat that game when I was 10, and the hardest part was not knowing English so I didn't know where to go at some parts.
-
@Suzu @All_bonesJones exactly. I beat it probably closer to 7-8 when when I got it at around 6. The fucking sunken ship puzzle man, had to get a babysitter to do that one
What did you do? Brute force it?
-
@coolboymew @All_bonesJones for the sunken ship puzzle I remember I asked my friend's sister to decipher the clues.
But the part that really got me stuck was another one. I can't remember the details now, but there is a point where you don't open a new stage to explore after beating the last stage available, and you have to go back and do something in another stage to unlock another path, and I'm pretty sure they give you hints of that in the game, but I couldn't read them, so I had to go around for literally daysuntil I found it.
-
@Suzu @All_bonesJones yes, I got stuck forever at these too
IIRC it's simply "talk to frogfucius" and then you can finally move on to bean valley was it?
In the remake they have a journal and an indicator on the map lmao. The game literally tell you in the original (BUT WE COULDN'T READ IT)
-
@coolboymew @All_bonesJones I think it was something like that. I remember there was a character that talked about "an old geezer" somewhere, and I was dumb enough to understand English and what "geezer" meant, but smart enough to know about geysers, so I spent a shit ton of time going every place that looked to have something like that, I thought I would find a place with a geyser and a rock on top, and the thing would explode and take me to a high place with another exit.
IIRC, Yoshi's Island had platforms that worked like that.
-
@Suzu @All_bonesJones I was like 5-6 and barely started reading French in the first place, so
But yeah, there's about 2 instances of weird pointless roadblocks like that IIRC. I think the first frogfucius encounter is obligatory? (it won't let you go on otherwise) But I think there's 2? times in the game where you have to go back pointlessly, maybe?
Other roadblocks were the marrymore back entrance (it's told by an NPC). The Marrymore exit after the events was a bitch too IIRC. I THINK the other Frogfucius roadblock I have a hard time remembering right now is Star Hill right after getting the Princess back, Star Hill ain't unlock until you go talk to him which was a genuinely bad decision as he tells you a single fucking line and that's it
The Bean Valley one took me forever damn
