My theory that as inflation and the economy becomes increasing more fucked, being slightly chubby but not malnourished or unhealthy means that you don't have food insecurity and by extension, have at least somewhat stable resources. This goes for both men and women. Men liking thin to really thin women is historically recent (no, I don't mean landwhales or really fat chicks, I mean slightly chubby)
