@pernia @crunklord420 Don't see the context posts crunklord made (I'm assuming he's teasing out a hypothetical about whether Dengism would have saved the USSR but I'm not sure I could really say anything on that either way) so I'm gonna be quick with this one and stick to only how it did in China
1) "did dengism work?"
Yes, absolutely, it's materially responsible for the modern Chinese society as we know it and the improvements that ended up ensuing after the discontinuation of misdirected policies from the Mao era.
2) "is it still being practiced?"
Depends who you ask, the different leaders have ebbs and flows with it, currently Xi Jinping is pushing to nationalize everything at the expense of maintaining a pure Deng-esque reformist push, his predecessor Hu Jintao was also like this while Deng himself and Jiang Zemin were both true believers with regards to the economic (and limited societal) reforms Deng Xiaoping pushed.
