     When I translated Komi-san from FR to English, I used deepl for the French here and there as a doublecheck and a helper. I also used it on on the Japanese and used a English translation of the manga to check, so quadruple check here on top of me translating the French
     
     I can tell you AI ain't ready for this. Unless an actual translator is actually doing the process, you can't use this without actual knowledge of the language you're translating (French, in my case. DeepL'ing the Japanese sentence was really for a doublecheck, to see if something went terribly wrong) and I can tell you that for Japanese line by line no context it was pretty shit, and it wasn't superbly amazing for line by line French either

     @RustyCrab I'll never understand why most of those niggers joined this industry just to purposely do their jobs badly out of spite, and how they don't get called out by their employers when they openly brag about doing it on their very public social media profiles.
     Nobody is taking "artistic liberty" on movie subtitles, but weeb localizations is some bizarro world where this shit is common and accepted, and nobody ever gets in trouble for it. :niggainsane:

     @zero likely because high quality tard wranglers don't go into anime. It's a general trend that: hard job to get into + low pay = the only people interested are activists who want to shit everything up over politics
     
     You can also see this trend in real companies where absolutely useless people who can't do anything get assigned to "social media management" and become the defacto retard representing the corporate position. While the correlation isn't absolute, in my company it's a perfect linear scale of how meaningless your job is vs how much you talk about politics all day
