@RustyCrab the first comment is dumb because if you're refactoring a large system, trusting AI to "understand" it when you don't is insane
the only check for correctness from one of the retarded chatbots is your own knowledge. and as people increasingly use these things as prosthetic brains, decisions made based on chatbot hallucinations are going to have serious negative consequences

@deprecated_ii what AI could help with in legacy is that a lot of programmers are ALLERGIC to comments and will never ever say what anything they write is or does. Sometimes you will come across a brick of code that can only be described as a textual binary blob that is entirely unreadable but fits the pattern of a famous algorithm that you're not aware of. I think AI could help find reference material for stuff like that.
Keep in mind that legacy code is often very very bad and for much of it there is little to be acquired except a severe headache.
