@WashedOutGundamPilot The goal of adulthood should be to live out the wonderful dreams of childhood, not to bury them all and live like a corpse waiting 50 years for his funeral.
@ElTigre Which you do with your children. They’re the “New Game Plus” that give you carte blanche to do all that fun stuff under the guise of being a good father.
You CAN do what you want alone, but it gets old after a while. Once you do everything you dreamt of you get kinda….bored
@RupertvonRipp@ElTigre I’m blown away at how quickly they take to skills too - if they’re well-bred. Seems like all the “gifted” kids are just the result of healthy white people anyways, but it’s always fun to have a kid show interest in something and pick it up in the course of an hour
@WashedOutGundamPilot@ElTigre She also spins around and runs back and forth before bed and does a weird cha-cha dance on her tiptoes that I've no clue where she picked it up but it's funny.
@WashedOutGundamPilot@ElTigre TFW baby girl's main interest is running around grandma's backyard finding things to carry around with her and other things of that nature.
@RupertvonRipp@ElTigre They’ll just see weird little manerrisms and become captivated with it. My lil bro thought those battle droids were cool for a while and tried to figure out how to move like them
Was unnerving until he turned 5 and grew out of it
@WashedOutGundamPilot@ElTigre Having kids is an excuse for grown men to play with cool toys again "Its not for me uh.... its for little man!" "Hes gonna put together a prefect grade gundam? He's 3." "...he'll appreciate it when he's older!"
@WashedOutGundamPilot@ElTigre I have a friend whose dad really likes trains and started buying train sets "for his son" when my friend was born. You'll never guess who spent hours playing with trains in the basement.
@monsterislandcolonizer@ElTigre That’s why I actually like these big banner franchises that last forever. I’d much rather my kids like star wars and recycle my old toys than pick up some new “based” thing that’s a whole new ecosystem of shit that ends up forgotten in five years
(I’m gonna give my kids Tie Fighter so they know who the good guys are)
@monsterislandcolonizer@ElTigre There was some insanely cool stuff they made for the old trilogy. These things were bigger than the average kid
Can’t find a pic but the walker toy was like, 3.4 ft tall. Kinda interesting seeing this guy reminisce about the olden days - exactly what I’m talking about.
@WashedOutGundamPilot@ElTigre "Char Aznable did nothing wrong and in this house he is a hero! Now put your hand over your head *like this* and say 'sieg zeon!"
@ElTigre@Mutsu_a125@monsterislandcolonizer Your kids should be smart enough to parse good from bad. It’s likely as easy as just watching them and razzing everything that sucks about them
@WashedOutGundamPilot@monsterislandcolonizer@ElTigre for all it's faults, the beauty of SW is there's sooo much material out there you could basically give the kid about three childhood's worth of material before going into the poz and it's got a near perfect cutoff point, 2014
@WashedOutGundamPilot@Mutsu_a125@monsterislandcolonizer Ya you're right. I did the same. I loved the original trilogy even though I was 20 years past it. I hated the new trash. I eventually grew out of it. I trust that my line will be somewhat similar to me in tastes.
@monsterislandcolonizer@ElTigre@Hikari@RupertvonRipp@Mutsu_a125 It always bothered me how shitty and anemic the gunplay was. The main gun was so weenie and weak, the only one that felt like it was fun to use was the bad guy stuff, even then everything was so spongey. A fun gun would have kicked it up a notch
@ElTigre@monsterislandcolonizer@Hikari@RupertvonRipp@Mutsu_a125 That was one of the mildly fun parts of the great expansion of white flight: seemed like there were so many parks and buildings under development we never ran out of places to go hoon around and party as teens. We used to use this one future auto emporium as a circuit to lap, they ended up having to splurge to station mobile security cars everywhere to keep the kids from doing it after a year or so
@RupertvonRipp@ElTigre@WashedOutGundamPilot@Hikari@Mutsu_a125 Everyone puts up fences and no one goes outside. People want to live in a big house but they don't want to have to interact with their neighbors. Nigger infestation has a lot to do with it but so does the image of insane multi-kulti world that the media projects.
@WashedOutGundamPilot@ElTigre@Hikari@RupertvonRipp@Mutsu_a125 I guess thats true, but I thought it was a blast nonetheless. The gunplay isn't great in retrospect but as a 14 year old I didn't know any better. I just felt like I was a badass commando doing cool shit with the lads
