   Incident report for today's whopping 14 hour power outage, where Lain.la was down for just 40 minutes through UPS shenanigans, heavy rain, generator fuel refills, and more.

     @7666 I see, network outage is the big problem for me. I have both a backup lte modem and a vps but i still need to figure out the switch from wan to the backup working with the servers.

     @dcc The network never dropped, only the power source to the terminal did.

     @dcc I will get redundant networking eventually, when Comcast gets better upload speeds. I need 200mbit at minimum, and they may deliver on that soon.
     
     And yeah, I know, Comcast sucks ass, but they're A. a different provider (comcast vs fios) and B. on a different medium (coaxial vs fiber), removing a lot, if not all, of the single points of failure.
     
     Then I can just wire that into my existing pfsense core router and set them up as a tiered gateway group. Done and done.

     @pyrate @7666 Its not a fail over issue, its a issue of being able to access the server over the lte modem through the vps. I am having problems with ssh port fording as well as the vps being overloaded (I think)

     I am not sure what router you have for your network. I have basically this configured on my router to fail over automatically.

     @dcc I would never be able to use an LTE modem with the outbound bandwidth I have to maintain. I tried a 5G trashcan and it got like 10mbps. Nope.
