   I have always liked the idea of electric vehicles.

   However, my idea is more like glorified golf carts than trying to do what gasoline cars do.

   Many things require sacrifice. The future may not be comfortable, but it is a small price to pay for a happy environment.

     I was taking some people to the airport once and got lost in an industrial area adjacent to a terrible neighborhood and a nice neighborhood, bordered by a freeway on the open side.

     We were looking around at these no-name buildings with seemingly zero oversight and all of us expressed simultaneously that this would be a great place to hide a body.

     Escaped fast.

     @amerika @EJM77 or worse the whole city is spread out as a result because the inner city parts burnt out in the 60s and became high crime. Even the more whitewashed wikipedia page for this suburb is unflattering.

     @amerika I have a bunch of cordless tools and I really like them but you have to have extra batteries or you can’t finish anything in time. Can’t imagine planning a road trip around 5-6hr blocks of charging. What a joke.

     This is my experience as well. Cordless works great with drills, grinders, and small saws.

     I am less enthused about the cordless leaf blowers, which would require about twenty batteries to get the job done.

     Still kind of amazing our tech has come this far, even if it still has far to go.

     @amerika actually I have a cordless leaf blower and mower. The mower is nice, most of the time I can get my whole lawn done. There are exceptions, wet or tall grass chews up the battery faster. The leaf blower on the low power setting gets about 30-40 minutes good for dry leaves. On high about 10-15 minutes, not so great.
     This is how I’ve been charging. Fun little project/hobby but for my main mode of transportation, fuck no. Just can’t hold enough juice and can’t be refilled fast enough.

     That's a cool setup.

     My preferred solution to the problem of internal combustion solution is to localize production and consumption as much as possible.

     People drive too much mostly because they are commuting 50 miles to get around the ghettoes and industrial areas filled with the skeletons of murdered hookers.
